Monday 4/27 and Tuesday 4/28/20

Good Morning 4th Grade 🌞! This week, I'm changing our routine a little, and giving out work for two days at a time in one post. So this is for 2 days: Monday and Tuesday. You do not have to complete it all today.

-Reading 📚: Over the next 2 days, read Chapters 23-28 in Holes, pages 101-123 completing Part 1 of the novel. There are more flashbacks in these chapters, but this time it's not back to Latvia. Instead, we go back to Green Lake, Texas in the 1800's, when there was an actual lake there. Write your own titles for each chapter on the yellow Chapter Title sheet.

Guiding questions to think about while you're reading these chapters: Do you think Mr. Sir is planning to retaliate against Stanley after what happened in the Warden's cabin in chapter 20? What do you think he might do?  What is Stanley's excuse for having Zero do half of his digging work for him each day? Do you think that's fair? What's the curse on Green Lake? What happened that caused the curse? Who is Mary Lou?  You do not have to write these answers out. Rather, just be thinking about them as you read the chapters, and we'll discuss them together during our class meeting on Thursday.

-Main Math Group➕➖✖➗: Monday - Watch the Module 5, Lesson 24 YouTube video📺 in the links, adding and multiplying unit fractions using a visual model. It may help to watch the video a second time if you're having trouble. Then, complete the Lesson 24 Problem Set p. 121-122.  If this skill makes sense to you, skip the Homework pages and go on to IXL Section R. Parents, please see the video lesson and/or the Eureka Parent Tip Sheet in the links if you need support.

Tuesday: Skip Lesson 25. Then watch the Mod 5, Lesson 26 YouTube video📺. Complete Lesson 26 Problem Set p. 129-130. Spend 20 minutes practicing IXL skills in section R.

-Math Un-Group: Monday - Skip Lessons 15 and 16. Take the Module 6 test. It was inside the brown paper grocery bag that went home a couple weeks ago. You may use your completed lessons from the book if they're helpful as examples.

Tuesday - Finish the Mod 6 test. Then watch the video 📺 for Module 7, Lesson 1. Complete the problem set p. 3-4. You can skip the homework pages if this skill makes sense to you.

-Science: On Tuesday, I'm planning to post your "Bird of the Day" photos and drawings🐦🦉🦅 that students have shared so far. If you still haven't finished and shared your Bird ID Log with at least least 5 bird species listed, you need to complete that by Wednesday. Logs that include bird photos or drawings receive ⭐Extra Credit!

On Tuesday, I'll also post links to 6 of your Science Reports that you completed back in March. You should check out each one, and read through all of the slides. If you have any questions or comments about the report, please share them with that student via Gmail or Google Hangouts. I'll post 6 new reports each Tuesday in the coming weeks. For those of you who created posterboards, I'll post a photo of your project. Students who chose the Hands-On Demonstration will get to present "Live" during our Thursday Class Meeting.

-Class Meeting: Let's have another class video meeting on Google Meets on Thursday, April 30.  I'll send out invitation links on Wednesday to your school Gmail. Check your email so you can join us!
