 Good morning, fourth grade! 🌞

-Spelling and Vocabulary: 1. Finish up this week's written work, set up for you to do online at Google Classroom.

2. Spend 15 minutes on Vocabulary A-Z for practice games and activities with this week's list.

-Reading 📚: Spend 20 minutes working on skills in your level of Lexia Core 5. Let me know when you complete a level, and I'll email you your hard-earned AWARD CERTIFICATE 👏🏆 🎆 😁👍

-PE 🏃🏀🏊🏂🏈🎿🎾🎯💪💓: Get outside for some exercise, and keep moving for 20 minutes or more. Get that heart rate up! Keep track of your activity using Coach's Activity Log. See his new Google Classroom for more info and activities. Questions? Email Coach at bvannevel@taoscharterschool.org

-ART 🎨: Hi 4th grade!

This week we will practice a new art technique called foreshortening. This is another way for something to look closer or farther away. The goal is make a person look like they are flying or falling and away from the paper with their arms and legs outstretched. 1. Get a big piece of white paper ( no lines!) 2. Trace your hands along the top of the paper. 3. Trace your shoes along the bottom of the paper. (Leave space in the middle!) 4. Draw the head, neck, arms, legs and body of a smaller person, in between the feet and hands. What expression does your person have? Are they surprised//happy? 5. Pay attention to the soles of your shoes. Add as much detail as possible so they really look like the bottom of your shoes. 6. Color in the WHOLE drawing. No white space should be left. 7. Color in the background. Where is your person flying? Through the stars, clouds, ocean? What is the person falling into? A pool, a trampoline?

Welcome to the TCS 4th Grade Blog!

Hello to all the incoming 4th grade students and parents at Taos Charter! I hope you've all have had a fantastic summer break. I really enjoyed mine too, but I'm glad to be back working in the classroom and excited to kick off another school year with this new group of kids. School starts Monday, August 17th at 8:15 AM. Fourth grade supply lists are available in the office or at the TCS website in the "For Parents" section. It's not necessary for everyone to have all the supplies on the first day. Pencils, folders, and composition books are the most important items. Until then, get outside, have some fun, and make the most of your last days of break. I'll see you bright and early on Monday! Our TCS Welcome Back Pot-Luck is Friday, August 14th from 5:30 to 7:00pm if you can make it. Thanks for taking the time to find and read our 4th grade blog!
