Monday and Tuesday, 5/4/20 and 5/5/20
Good Morning 4th Grade ๐! This post is for 2 days: Monday and Tuesday. You do not have to complete it all today.
-Google Hangouts Chat Check-in ✅: On Monday morning at some point, everyone needs to check in briefly with me on Google Hangouts Chat ๐ฌ. Just send a quick message to say hello, ask a question, tell a joke, tell me how your weekend was, send an emoji ๐ฅ๐ป๐ฝ๐๐๐... anything. Just touch base with me. I'll write back to you as soon as I see it. Start a new conversation if you've never used this, or add ➕ to the conversation we've already started. For students who have not yet used this feature, it's in the lower left corner of your school gmail screen. My account is of course mbonner@taoscharterschool.org You can also use this method to communicate ๐ฃ with your fellow classmates.
-Reading ๐: Over the next 2 days, read Chapters 35-39 in Holes, pages 155-176. Write your own titles for each chapter on the yellow Chapter Title sheet.
Guiding questions to think about while you're reading these chapters: What is "sploosh"? Where did it come from originally? What is one of the jokes Stanley and Zero have as they climb the mountain? How do those jokes help them? What are some other ways they helped each other up the mountain? What did they find at the top? Do these chapters remind you at all of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary's famous first climb of Mt. Everest that we read about this winter? What did Zero confess to doing at the end of Chapter 39? What song did Stanley sing to Zero at the top? You do not have to write these answers out. Rather, be thinking about them as you read the chapters, and we'll discuss them together during our class meeting on Thursday.
