Over the weekend:

-Math: Finish the back side of the green 2 x 1 digit practice sheet. -Happy Halloween!

Halloween!

-Spelling: Study for the quiz. -Math: Finish the front side of the green 2 digit x 1 digit multiplication practice sheet (Rows A to F). -Costume Parade: K to 4th grades will have a costume parade at 1:30 on Friday outside on the basketball court. Parents are invited! Kids are welcome to bring in a healthy snack to share in class after the parade. No candy or soda, please. I'm sure they'll get enough sugar out trick-or-treating on Friday evening. And please remember that we have 3 fourth graders who have severe nut allergies, so nothing with any peanuts, pecans, cashews, etc.

For Thursday:

-Math: If you haven't scored 100% on our 3 minute x fact test yet, keep practicing the multiplication facts using flash cards, websites, and printable practice sheets. Today's class average on Test #9 was just 73%. I know we can do much better than that! You only have three more quizzes left to earn a Fun Friday. -Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the practice quiz.

For Wednesday:

-Math: Study Links 3-10 (p. 63), and keep practicing the multiplication facts using flash cards, websites, and printable practice sheets. Our timed Test #9 will be on Wednesday. -Science: Be sure to check out the Explora Science Night from 5:30-7:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) in the TCS Gym. FREE!

For Tuesday:

-Math: Study Links 3-9 (p. 61)

Over the weekend:

-Report Cards: Parents, progress report for the first marking period went home with students today. Please take some time to discuss the grades and comments with your son or daughter. There's no school on Friday, October 24th for Parent-Teacher Conferences. I’ve already scheduled meetings with some of you, and I meet with some parents fairly regularly, so conferences are not mandatory for all students at this time. If I haven’t contacted you and you’d like to meet, email me at mbonner@taoscharterschool.org to make an appointment. I’m also available to meet after school from 3-4 pm in the coming weeks, if that works better for you. The progress reports are yours to keep. Please sign the yellow slip and return it to school on Monday with your child to verify you received it. -Math: The class average went up 11 percentage points to 75% on their three-minute multiplication fact test today. Great job! Your practice and hard work are paying off. Keep practicing over the weekend using

For Friday:

-Math: Practice your x facts for Test #5 by completing the last 2 Five Minute Frenzy charts on the back of Test #4. -Spelling: Study for the quiz. -Keyboarding: Spend 10 or 15 minutes practicing your home-row skills at Typing Web. For Thursday:

-Math: Fill in all the blanks on Multiplication Fact Test #4, and fix any that you missed. Also, practice for Test #5 by completing 2 of the Five Minute Frenzy charts on the backside of that test. Today's class average on Test #4 was 64%. If we can increase that average score by 20 points to our goal of 84%, I'll plan a Fun Friday for the class: swimming at the TYFC in the morning, and then pizza, popcorn, and a movie in the afternoon! -Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the practice quiz.

Over Fall Break:

-Reading: Spend 20 minutes or more each day reading a book, newspaper, or magazine of your choice. Keep track of your daily reading on your Fall Break Reading Log. -Math: Complete the 4 page multiplication fact packet focusing on sixes, sevens, eights, and nines. Practice your facts using flash cards, fact triangles, websites, or printable practice sheets. Log into IXL a few times over the break, and focus on skills A5, D1, D2, D3, D4. -Believe it or not, Friday was the last day of the first marking period. First quarter student progress reports will go home on October 17th. -Have a safe, fun Fall Break! See you on October 13th.

For Friday:

-Reading: Finish up all three of the Superfudge written assignments (book review, comprehension questions, and chapter summaries) to hand in on Friday.
