For Thursday:
-Math: SL 5-6
-Spelling: Written work due.
-Creative Writing: Last chance to hand in the final draft of the New Year Essay.
-Current Events: Watch the news, read a paper, or find information online about the earthquake in Haiti and what is being done to help.
-Fundraiser: Today in class, we discussed the earthquake disaster situation in Haiti. The students are very concerned and want to do something to help the victims, so I presented some information and history about the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and UNICEF. The class voted to try and do a fundraiser to donate to the Doctors Without Borders Haiti Relief Fund. We're not allowed to have "Bake Sales" at school anymore, but the 4th grade got special permission to have a "Healthy Home-Made Snack" Sale on Friday afternoon from 2-3 pm. Parents, if you can, please make a plate of carrot bread, cookies, muffins, brownies, etc. with your son or daughter for the class to sell for this cause. Pre-packaged individual packages of nuts, dried fruit, and juices would be great too. Please see the link to learn more about Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF.
