Over the break:

-SKI FREE at Sipapu: 4th graders still ski and snowboard for FREE at Sipa until their closing day, April 12th. Just remember to bring a progress report to prove your grade-level. For Friday:

-Spelling: written work due, and study for the Friday quiz. -NMSBA: today the class completed the third and final reading section of the test. They ALL stayed very focused and gave their best effort. Way to go 4th grade! The next part is the Writing Section which will be given after Spring Break, on Wednesday and Thursday, April 8th and 9th.

Homework on the evenings before NMSBA's

On the evenings before students are to take the SBA (March 23 and 25, April 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, and 20) , no written homework assignments will be given. Sorry kids! Instead, the homework on each of those nights will be for everyone to complete the following tasks: 1. Get some exercise. 2. Eat a healthy dinner. 3. Get a good night's sleep. 4. Eat a healthy breakfast. 5. Be at school on-time (8:15 a.m.) During the three testing weeks, written spelling work will be due on Friday, rather than on Thursday. NM SBA's

-New Mexico Standards-Based Assessments will begin this week. On Tuesday and Thursday, the class will be taking the Reading sections of the exam. The week after Spring Break, we'll resume the test with the Writing sections which will be given on Wednesday and Thursday, April 8th and 9th. The Math and Science sections will be given on April 14, 15, 16, and 21. On all those days, we'll test in the morning from about 9:00 until 11:00. Please make sure that your child is present, on-time, and well-rested for the tests. Encourage them to give their best effort on every session so that we can get an accurate, genuine assessment for each student. We'll take breaks in the mornings between each session, and students may bring in a snack to have during the breaks. Please let me know if you have any questions about the NMSBA, or if you'd like to come in to help us proctor the tests.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

There's no school on Wednesday for parent-teacher conferences. Conferences are not required for every student. I've already contacted a number of parents and planned meetings for Wednesday. If you want to schedule a conference, but I haven't yet contacted you, please call me at school 751-7222, ext. 221 or email me at mlbonner@yahoo.com and we'll set up an appointment.

For Friday:

-Math: Memorize and practice fraction-decimal equivalents for a quiz. -Spelling: Study for the Friday quiz. -Third marking period progress reports will go home with students on Friday.

For Thursday:

-Math: Study Links 7-9 (p. 161) -Spelling: Written work due.

For Wednesday:

-Math: Study Links 7-8 (p. 159)

For Tuesday:

-Math: Spend 15 minutes practicing common fraction-decimal equivalents 1/2 = 0.5, 1/4 = 0.25, 3/4 = 0.75, 1/10 = 0.1, 1/5 = 0.2, 1/3= 0.333, 2/3 = 0.666, 1/8 = 0.125 Check out the new links for some games to help you practice.

Assignment for Parents: Grant Opportunity for TCS!

Dear Parents, Phyllis Nichols, a TCS grandparent alerted us to this extraordinary opportunity to receive a $10,000 grant from Centinel Bank. -There are no homework assignments for Wednesday. Great work on your science reports, 4th graders! -Parents, please remember to send in a re-enrollment form for your child if you haven't done so already. These are due no later than Friday, March 13th. We still haven't heard back from Seth, Shawntee, Julia, Jade, and Alijah. Extra forms are available in the office if yours was eaten by the backpack Duendes.

For Tuesday:

-Science: Research reports are due Tuesday. Be ready to present your report to the class. -Reminder: There's no school on Friday, March 13th (staff in-service day).

-Science: Step #8 - Proofread and edit your report for errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Have an adult help you with this step. -Spelling: Study for Friday quiz.

For Thursday:

-Science: Continue on Step #7 of your report (revising, adding information). Go to Step #8 (proofreading and editing) if you're ready. -Math: Study Links 7-3. -Spelling: Written work due.

For Wednesday:

-Science: Begin revising the rough draft of your research report. Add information into the paragraphs (Step #7 on your checklist.)
