For Tuesday and Wednesday:

-Ski Club will meet in the TCS parking lot at 7:45 on Tuesday morning and return at 5:00 p.m. We need parents to help chaperone if you're available.

-Students who aren’t participating in the Ski Program will go down to the Youth and Family Center to go swimming from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Students should bring a swimsuit, towel, and $2 for pool admission. After swimming, the class will ride the bus to the southside Guadalajara Grill for lunch (about 11:45 – 12:45). Students should bring about $10 to cover the cost of their lunch. Parents are welcome to join us and help chaperone swimming and/ or lunch at the Guad if you’re available.

-Reading Club will meet as usual after school on Wednesday from 3:00-3:45.

-Basketball Tournament: TCS is hosting our first-ever annual basketball tournament this week for 3rd/ 4th / 5th grade teams from all the schools in the Taos area. Games start at 4:15 p.m. and go until about 8:00 in the Gym every day after school this week, and all day on Saturday. This is a BIG event for the school, and we really need parent support and assistance to make the tournament a success. At this point, we still need referees for some of the games. Parent help is also needed in ticket sales, food concessions, score-keeping, and cleanup. All the proceeds from the tournament go toward the TCS Parent-Teacher Association to directly benefit students in all of the classes. If you're available to help out one or more evenings this week, please contact PE Coach Brian Van Nevel at school: 751-7222 (ext. 211), or via email: bvannevel@taoscharterschool.org

-Mill Levy and School Board Election: Parents, on Tuesday, February 5, Taos County will hold elections for two School Board positions and a mill levy referendum. I encourage parents to get out and vote in favor of the mill levy if you haven't already done so during early-voting. If it passes, taxes will not increase, and all Taos County public schools (including charter schools) will receive increased funding for capital outlay projects to make much-needed improvements to school facilities. To find your district's polling places, call the Taos County Bureau of Elections at 737-6400.
