Spring Break!

-Taos High School's amazingly entertaining production of "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka" will be performed at the TCA tonight (Friday) at 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday at 1:00 and 7:00 p.m. Go see it if you can! -Math: Practice any of the Q skills at IXL. -Have a great Spring Break! See you Tuesday, April 7.

For Thursday:

-Math: Study Links 7-6 (p. 155) -Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the practice quiz. Use Spelling City to help. -As far as I know, 4th grade is still invited to attend the dress rehearsal of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" at 3:45 Thursday at the TCA. See you there!

For Tuesday:

-Math: Study links 7-5 (p. 153) -NMSBA Science Test: On Tuesday morning, 4th grade will take the first 2 sections of the science test. Bring a snack to have during the break between the 2 sessions. -Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Live On Stage!: The 4th grade has been invited to attend the final dress rehearsal for Taos High School's production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." This performance will be on Thursday after school at 3:45 until about 6:00 p.m. at the TCA (near Kit Carson Park). Parents will need to provide transportation, and are welcome to attend. I will be there to enjoy the play and help supervise our group. There's no charge for admission.

For Thursday and Friday:

-Progress report for the third marking period will go home with students on Thursday. There's no school on Friday, March 20 for Parent-Teacher Conferences. I’ve already scheduled meetings with some of you, and I've met with a number of parents fairly recently, so conferences are not mandatory for all students at this point in the school-year. If I haven’t contacted you and you’d like to meet, please email me at mbonner@taoscharterschool.org to make an appointment.

For Tuesday:

-PARRC Math Testing in 4th grade will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Get ready for these tests by getting fresh air and exercise, making healthy food choices, getting plenty of sleep, and practicing your math skills at IXL.

For Friday:

-Spelling: Study for the quiz. Use Spelling City to help. -Math: Practice IXL skills Q1, Q2, Q3, Q18, R7, R9.

For Thursday:

-Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the practice quiz. Use your account at Spelling City to help! -Math: Practice IXL skills Q1, Q2, Q3.

For Wednesday:

-Math: Study Links 7-2 (p. 147) -Science: Research reports are due. Complete steps 10, 11, and 12 on the orange checklist (images, bibliography, and title page). Practice reading your report aloud a couple times so you'll be ready to present it to the class.

For Tuesday:

-Math: Study Links 7-1 (p. 145), and deliver the Unit 7 Family Letter. -Science: Finish Step #9 on the orange checklist (final draft). If your final draft is already finished, start Steps #10 and #11 (add images and write the bibliography). We'll print final drafts and create title pages in the library on Tuesday. -PARRC Testing: Today we completed the reading and language arts sessions of the test. The math sessions will be next Tuesday and Thursday, March 17 and 19.

Over the weekend:

-Science: Complete Steps 7 and 8 on the orange checklist. Revise and edit your rough draft. Then start step #9: writing the final draft. Preferably, final drafts should be written on your Google Drive account so that you can work on it at school as well as at home. Final drafts can also be hand-written (in your best and neatest handwriting) if you cant access your Google account at home this weekend. Reports are due Wednesday, March 11. -Math: Practice IXL skills P19, P20, P23, P24. -Have a great weekend. GO HAWKS!!

For Thursday:

-PARCC Testing begins Thursday morning for 4th grade. All students will need to have a set of headphones . Prepare to do your best by getting exercise, making healthy food choices, and getting enough sleep. There's no need to worry or stress about PARCC. If you just relax, focus, and show what you know, you'll do just fine on these tests. -Math: Sketch a floor plan of any rectangular room in your house, and use a tape measure to measure the actual length and width to the nearest whole foot. Have a parent or older sibling help you if possible. Then find the perimeter and area of that room (Area = Length X Width). Bring your floor plan in to school on Thursday to share. -Science: Bring your rough draft to school so you can type your final draft on the Chromebooks in Google Drive

For Wednesday:

-Science: Complete Steps 3 and 4 on the orange checklist. Write the last 2 or 3 paragraphs of your rough draft. If you've already finished the RD, move on to Steps 6, 7, 8. Bring your RD into class on Wednesday. -Math: Study Links 8-5 (p. 183). Practice IXL Skill P20.

For Tuesday:

-Science: Begin Step #2 on the orange sheet. Use your outline to write the first 2 or 3 paragraphs of the rough draft of your science report. -Spelling: To catch up on Friday's yaD wonS, take a spelling and a vocabulary quiz on last week's list at Spelling City.
