Homework for Friday:

-Celebrate being done with NMSBA testing! Today the class completed the final sessions of our yearly assessment. I really appreciate their hard-working, positive attitude, and all the studious effort they put into the nine sessions of the test over the past two weeks. Well done, 4th Grade!

For Thursday:

-On Thursday morning, the class will be taking Sessions 2 and 3 of the NMSBA Science test, completing the entire assessment! Please bring in a healthy snack to eat during the break in-between test sessions.

Happy Spring Equinox! Over the weekend:

-3rd quarter progress reports went home with students today. -Math: Practice for NMSBA Math sessions 2 and 3 by using IXL for 20-30 minutes, and Moby Max (Math or Test Prep Math) for 20-30 minutes. -Science: Watch episode 3 of Cosmos on Fox channel 2 at 8:00 pm on Sunday evening if you can. You can also stream episodes 1 and 2 at the COSMOS site in the links.

For Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:

-Math: Choose any rectangular or square room in your house, and measure the length and width of the floor to the nearest foot using a tape measure or a ruler. Make a floor-plan drawing of the room, labeling length and width. Then calculate the perimeter and area of the room, and bring that in to school on Tuesday. -NMSBA Reading Session #2 will be on Tuesday morning. Reading Session 3 will be on Wednesday, and Math Session 1 will be Thursday. During the two weeks of testing, I won't be assigning spelling lists or Study Links pages. Testing night assignments include the following: get some exercise and fresh air after school, eat a healthy dinner, get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and be at school on-time. I strongly encourage students to continue using their on-line accounts at IXL Math, Moby Max, and Lexia for 20-30 minutes at home each night for skills review and test preparati

Over the long weekend:

-Math: Spend 20-30 minutes on IXL skills F4 and F5 (multi-step word problems). You'll need a pencil and paper to solve them. -Reading: Go to Moby Max for 20-30 minutes to work on Reading or Test Prep-Language. - NMSBA : Starting Monday, March 17, and continuing until March 27, the class will be taking the New Mexico Standards-Based Assessments in Reading, Math, and Science. During that time-frame, we’ll be taking the 9 sessions of the test every day before lunch. Please make sure your daughter or son is present, on-time, and well-rested during testing. So that we get a true assessment of current skill-levels, please encourage your child to give their best effort on these tests. Good nutrition, a positive attitude, and getting enough sleep are vital to test success.

For Thursday:

-Math: Work on IXL skills P17 and P18 (perimeter and area) for 15-20 minutes. Go to Moby Max, and do Test Prep - Math for 15-20 minutes. -Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the quiz by using the games and activities at Spelling City.

For Wednesday:

-Math: Practice IXL skill P17 (perimeter). -Test Prep: Go to Moby Max, log-in and use the Test Prep activities in Math and Language. Your username is your first name (no caps), and your password is also your first name.

-Science: Finish Step #9 at Google Drive. Then go on to Steps 10 and 11. Bring all of your materials in to school on Monday. We'll do Step #12 (title page) in class and start to put everything together. The new due date is Tuesday, March 11 . -Math: Practice IXL skills Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q8, Q9, R1, R2, R4, R5, R7, R11, R12, V1, V2.

For Friday:

-Science: Go to Google Drive, log in, and spend 30 minutes working on final draft of your science report. -Math: Practice IXL skills Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q8, Q9, R1, R2, R4, R5. -Spelling: Study for the quiz

For Thursday:

-Math: Study Links 7-7 (p. 157), and practice IXL skills Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q8, and Q9. -Spelling: Written work is due. Practice for the quiz at Spelling City.

For Wednesday:

-Science: Steps 7 and 8 on the blue checklist. Revise, proofread, and edit your rough draft. Parents, please assist as needed. Bring your edited rough draft in on Wednesday so you can begin writing the final draft in class using the Chromebooks.

For Tuesday:

-Science: Finish the five paragraph rough draft of your science report (steps 3, 4, 5 on the blue checklist). Even if you finished the RD over the weekend, spend some time adding new information. Say more. Expand your paragraphs. Make it even better.
