Over the weekend:

-Math: Study Links 3-10 (p. 63), and practice the x facts for Timed Test #7. -Spelling: With the Halloween festivities today, we ran out of time in class before I could give the weekly spelling quiz. This weekend, log into Spelling City and take a quiz at home online (don't peek at your list!). You can also ask mom or dad to give you the quiz on paper and bring it into school on Monday. The list is posted below if you need it.

Halloween!

-Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the quiz by taking a practice quiz at home. Use your account at Spelling City to help you get ready. -Costume Parade: K to 4th grades will have a costume parade at 1:30 on Thursday in the Gym. Parents are invited! Kids are welcome to bring in a healthy snack to share in class after the parade. No sweets, please. I'm sure they'll get enough sugar out trick-or-treating on Thursday evening.

For Wednesday:

-Math: Study Links 3-9 (p. 61), and practice the x facts for timed test #6.
Math: Study Links 3-8 (p. 59)

Spelling and Vocabulary 10/27/13

Over the weekend:

-First quarter progress reports went home with students today. The report is yours to keep. Please detach and sign the tan slip to verify that you received the report, and send that back to school with your child on Monday. -Use your accounts at Lexia Core 5 Reading and IXL Math for at least 30 minutes each this weekend. -Math: Practice the X facts up to the 12's for Test #5 on Monday. - Kids' Fall Festival : On Saturday from 2-5 pm, UNM Taos Kids Campus is sponsoring a festival at Blackstone Ranch (near the corner of Lower Ranchitos Rd and State Road 240). There will be food, face-painting, arts & crafts, games, hay rides, pumpkin carving, music, puppet shows... It should be a lot of fun! Students have a flyer about it in their take-home folders with more info.

For Thursday:

-Math: Study Links 3-6 (p. 55) -Spelling: Written work is due, and study for the quiz.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

-Parents, there's no school on Friday, October 25 for PT conferences. I’ve already scheduled meetings with some of you, and I meet with some parents fairly regularly, so conferences are not mandatory for all students at this time. If I haven’t contacted you yet and you’d like to meet, please email me at mbonner@taoscharterschool.org to make an appointment. I am also available to meet after school from 3:00-4:00 pm in the coming weeks if that works better for you.

For Wednesday:

-Math: Study Links 3-5 (p. 53) -Our 4th Grade Basketball Team starts practice next week! Boys and girls of all abilities are welcome. We need players! Letters from Coach Tafoya went home today with students. The first practice is next Tuesday, October 29 after school in the gym.

Over Fall Break:

-Reading: Spend 20 minutes or more each day reading a book, newspaper, or magazine of your choice. Use the link to download and read more of "Cocos y Coconas" by Larry Torres (if it's not too scary). Keep track of your daily reading on your Fall Break Reading Log. Use Lexia Core 5 at home if you have access. -Math: Complete the 4 page X fact packet. Practice your multiplication facts using flash cards, fact triangles, websites, or printable practice sheets. Log into IXL a few times over the break, and focus on skills D1, D2, D3, D4. -Believe it or not, Friday was the last day of the first marking period. First quarter student progress reports will go home on October 24th. -Have a safe, fun Fall Break! See you on October 21st.

For Friday:

-Spelling: Study for the quiz. -Math: Study Links 3-4 (p. 51), and practice the x facts for timed test #2.

For Thursday:

-Math: Practice the multiplication facts up to the 12's using flashcards, fact triangles, and websites. We'll have our second timed test on Friday, and you need to show some improvement over Test 1. -Spelling: Written work is due. Study for the practice quiz using your Spelling City account if you can. -Thank you to the Landgrafs for donating a very nice 5x8 rug for our classroom reading area!

For Wednesday:

-Math: Study Links 3-3 (p. 49), and spend 20 minutes working on IXL Math skills D1, D2, D3, D4. -Headphones: Students need to have their own headphones this year to use with our educational software, especially Lexia. The school's supply of headphones is decreasing rapidly due to breakage, and we no longer have enough to go around. Please bring in your own set (with your name on it somewhere), if you haven't brought some in already. Used sets are fine. Also, donations of new or used headphones are being graciously accepted in all grade-levels.

For Tuesday:

-Math: Study Links 3-2 (p. 47), and deliver the Unit 3 Family Letter.

Parents, please fill out and sign that sheet and send it back to school on Thursday.
